The secret to success
We all read motivation books and blogs on the Secret to Success but there is one thing that I have learned is that ‘those who succeed, do something’ and that ‘something’ does not have to be absolutely 100% perfect. I openly admit this is where I unravel because for as long as I can remember whatever I do it must be perfect. But in reality does it?
If we look at software development, do the giants Apple or Microsoft wait until every single glitz is ironed out before they launch? I don’t think so! How many times have they been criticized by their users for getting it wrong and have to either do a recall or a quick update to correct an error which let’s face it should not have been there in the first place.
In reality, when dealing with small to mid size Business Owners we all know the ones who will succeed and the ones who will never ever cut the mustard, they just don’t have it. Then again, there are the ones who give up just as they are on the verge of a breakthrough but sadly they don’t know it. The key here and the Secret to True Success comes from implementing your ideas. It’s all about doing the work and getting the results that will make the difference. But and it’s a big ‘but’, as it’s not just about getting it done – it’s about getting it done quickly and knowing when it’s time to let go.
The words ‘Perfection’ and ‘Procrastination’ can lead to what we call ‘Analysis Paralysis’ which can stop us from completing a project or task and in turn delaying the inevitable failure. What started out as all guns blazing with great enthusiasm and motivation very quickly can turn to doubt and delays and what gets delayed turns to never.
Here are some simple tips to hopefully help you achieve your success whatever that may be:
Simple as it may seem, the sheer act of actually doing something can be the most motivating thing in the World. It does not have to be perfect but at least you have started.
Leverage the Power of Now
We all have to start somewhere, so why not start now. That could mean taking out a pen and paper and writing down what the objective is and the steps needed to achieve that objective. The sheer act and satisfaction of doing it now can be a weight off your mind. Why put off until tomorrow what you can today.
Keep taking baby steps
As the old saying goes: How to eat an elephant? Obviously, one bite at a time. So, if that means setting goals and objectives that are measurable and achievable which in turn motivates you to set your next goal then do it.
So whatever your project or mission may be hopefully these few simple tips will help you to achieve your success but whatever you do don’t close this post until you have taken some kind of an action.
